The province of Saskatchewan is filled with many talented artists. The Solstice Festival highlights these artists in the Art Exhibition at the Cultural Centre Maillard. This must see destination will be sure to awe.

Jeanne d'Arc Gaudet, Oil Painter

Jeanne d'Arc GaudetJeanne d'Arc Gaudet was born and raised in the small farming community of St-Denis, Saskatchewan. Escaping the hectic city life of Vancouver, British Columbia she and her husband Emile relocated to Regina Beach, Saskatchewan where they have made it their home. Here she has settled and is now able to create what she loves, beautiful art. "To be able to paint is the greatest gift. It enables me to capture a moment in time and to truly do what I love." Her paintings have received awards and hang in various private collections.

Émile Gaudet, Wooder Carver

Émile GaudetInspired by the love of working with wood, Emile Gaudet began his wood carving career in 1998. Emile was born and raised in a small farming community of Batoche, Saskatchewan. Prior to his retirement, Emile joined a woodcarving club. There he learned to carve. Emile's first carved project was a stylized polar bear. Emile states, "My goal is to make my carvings as realistic as possible". Emile resides with his wife Jeanne d'Arc at Regina Beach, Saskatchewan and is now able to dedicate his time to his carvings. Emile's carvings have received many awards across western Canada.

Art x 9 Collective

Art x 9Come observe the talents of 4 visual artists as they collectively work on the creation of a special oil painting. Solstice is thrilled to welcome back Art x 9 on this very special occasion.

With a mandate to provide mutual support and assessment for emerging artists, Art by 9 is a collective established in 1992 to help artists combine their creative powers to organize exhibitions and activities geared towards promoting the development of art in Saskatchewan through community oriented projects and involvement. The members encourage each other to grow and further their artistic endeavors individually and through group activities, while remaining committed to professional standards.
